Nintendo Plans to Fix Zelda: Skyward Sword Fatal Glitch

Posted by Scotty Fields on 9:57 AM

Nintendo announced yesterday that it has heard the complaints and concerns of players who have encountered the fatal glitch and it is responding.

For those of you who are not familiar with the fatal glitch, let me explain how to encounter it and what it does.
The glitch occurs during the Song of the Hero quest. To trigger the glitch you must do the following:

1.)  Complete the Lanayru Desert portion of the quest
2.)  Speak with Golo the Goron in Lanayru Mine
3.)  Complete the quest and receive that portion of the song
4.)  Go back to the mine and speak with Golo once more

Doing this will effectively lock you out of the quest chain. Unless you have an earlier save file, this means having to start the adventure over. This occurs late in the game and has caused grief for many players already.

In an effort to resolve the issue, Nintendo has announced that it will provide two solutions for it's players.

-  If your Wii is connected to the internet you will be able to download a "Program" (patch?) that will resolve the issue.
-  If you do not have an internet connection you can ship your SD card or Wii system to Nintendo and they will repair it manually.

Call Nintendo 1-800-255-3700 for a shipping address or concerning any questions you may have around this information.
